Miracle Miles Will Provide Local Miracles in August of 2020!

Becky Hanenkrat

Between June of 2020 until August 8th, the LLNW and Mannahouse family will be super busy receiving, sorting, and getting ready to distribute over $2.3 million worth of new goods received from United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) to deserving recipients in our Portland metro community.

We have already involved over 150 volunteers to help with the receipt/sorting and distribution.  We are engaging community partners like Starbucks, FISH 104.5 to share in the joy of giving, we are working with our community partners like Oregon DHS and Washington DCYF to identify those in need.

The impact will be amazing.  Here is our Chairman, Scott Sneer with the first truck arrival

As you know, because of the huge donation from United Breast Cancer Foundation, LLNW will be giving away brand new and nearly new self-care products, household goods, apparel items.   Because of financial donations like yours to the Miracle Miles campaign, LLNW  “drove” these goods across the country in two 53′ tractor trailers, and they arrived in June.  Volunteers have sorted and prepared all of these items to be donated to individuals that LLNW is here to serve.

There have been two separate days of unloading the goods from the trucks.  Each truck was filled with different items.  One truck had expensive personal care items like makeup, hair care, body care, clothing and shoes.  The second truck had household goods and other items like blankets, pillows, bed covering, curtains, electronics, kitchen goods, sports equipment, and even some camping equipment!

The event takes place at Mannahouse Rocky Butte Campus on Fremont, and the invitees are from the groups that we at LLNW serve in our community. At LLNW, our areas of focus are Foster and Kinship families, survivors of sex trafficking and caring for those in need in our communities of Portland and Vancouver.

We expect 500 people to attend and will be playing FISH 104.1 music outside and KPDQ music inside. As they are a key sponsor, we are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase their stations for others in an uplifting way during the giving event.

Another sponsor, Starbucks is bringing their partner network of employees to serve and will provide the refreshments as a donation to LLNW. We are so grateful for their support! In addition to the Starbucks employees, there are approximately 125 volunteers total that will be or have already volunteered to make this possible.

Thanks to you for your support of this campaign! Our plans are to bring in more trucks over time and we really could not do this without donors like you!  Your donation is helping us bless so many!
